The citizens of Piatt County and the surrounding area have demonstrated time and again their generosity and interest in keeping Kirby Hospital a vital asset to our community.

Garden Project

As any one with a green thumb can tell you, a garden is a work in progress. Under the direction of Angela Russell and Dianne Geissal, two Master Gardeners as well as Kirby employees, a small area behind the hospital has turned into a garden that provides enjoyment and therapy for patients, employees and the community at large.

The garden can be viewed from patient rooms on the northeast side of the building and features brick-laden paths that are wheelchair accessible. Retaining walls provide seating along the way and support elevated work space to accommodate the interest and efforts of those garden enthusiasts who are handicapped. A large walk-through arbor has been constructed to support wisteria vine. A water garden displays a lighted waterfall bounding over rocks and boulders into an inviting pond of goldfish and colorful aquatic plants. A panoramic view of the garden from the patio reveals a wide variety of ornamental trees, grasses, shrubs and blooming perennials. Finally, to separate the employee parking lot from this peaceful setting and achieve a feeling of enclosure, a long row of 6-ft. arborvitae has been planted along the garden’s edge.

To make a donation to Kirby Hospital, please call (217) 762-6125. Donors can either request that their contributions be directed towards the purchase of specific garden items or they may give to the general building and equipment fund for Kirby Hospital.

The Donations Wall in our lobby recognizes the many generous people and organizations that have supported Kirby Hospital over the years. Plates are engraved and placed on the board for a donation or memorial received at the following levels:

  • $500 or greater - 4x1, Bronze
  • $1,500 or greater - 8x1, Silver
  • $5,000 or greater - 8x2, Gold
  • $10,000 or greater - 10x2, Platinum

TRADITION OF CARING BRICK GARGEN

In a partnership effort, families from across Piatt County and the surrounding area have supported Kirby through tax deductible gifts and are recognized in the “Tradition of Caring” Brick Garden. These gifts have made it possible for Kirby Hospital to undergo a major renovation and expansion project which has expanded the Emergency Room and Convenient Care Patient Services, upgraded the Laboratory’s technology and physical space, and added a new Physical Therapy Suite. These Kirby Bricks are located immediately outside the new addition to Kirby Hospital. Memorial Bricks may also be ordered for placement on the hospital grounds at the following levels:

  • $500 - Individual / Family
  • $750 - Business
  • $1,000 - Business with Logo
