Welcome to the Apple A Day Café 
Wholesome, nourishing and well-balanced meals are an important part of your treatment and recovery. Kirby Medical Center makes every effort to provide nutritious meals that are prepared according to your doctor’s orders.
We offer Room Service and you may place your meal order from 6:15 am to 6:15 pm. Breakfast is available all day and lunch/dinner is available between 11:00 am and 6:15 pm. Once you place your room service order, you can expect to have your tray delivered within 45 minutes. Occasionally you may need to delay your meal if you are scheduled for a special test or treatment. You may order from the room service menu after your examination or test.
If a family member or friend would like to dine with you in your room, a guest meal tray can be delivered to your room for a small fee. Another option for guest dining is the Apple a Day Café where meals can be purchased and taken back to the patient room. Patients are asked to refrain from visiting the Café for meals or snacks. Please call Room Service for all your dining needs including after your examination or test at (217) 762-1908 or direct dial extension 1908.
Café
The Apple a Day Café at Kirby Medical Center offers delicious and nutritious food to employees and visitors to the hospital in a calm and beautiful setting. The Café is open Monday through Friday:
6:30 am - 9:30 am (Breakfast)
9:30 am – 10:30 am (Grab ‘n Go* items only)
11:00 am - 1:30 pm (Lunch)
1:30 pm – 3:00 pm (Grab ‘n Go* items only)
*Grab ‘n Go items include pre-prepared cold sandwiches, salads, ice cream novelties, etc.

All meals and recipes are planned by a Registered Dietitian. Meal Specials include a protein, starch, and vegetable to promote healthy meal choices. All items are served using USDA recommended serving sizes to promote healthy weight maintenance. The majority of Apple a Day’s food is made from scratch by experienced cooks who take great pride in preparing appetizing, quality, and wholesome meals.
Food & Nutrition Services is excited to offer made-to-order omelets in our Cafe, along with our breakfast sandwiches and burritos, during breakfast hours. Omelets choices are: Veggie, Cheese, Ham & Cheese or Denver (Ham, Veggie & Cheese). Please allow 5-6 minutes to prep and cook. Note: Omelets include 2 whole eggs unless you specify low-cholesterol alternative.
Nutritional tip: Weight gain may occur over the holidays, due to overeating. Click here for a review of portion sizes to avoid overeating.
Vending Machines
Vending Machines for beverages, snacks & Cafe Grab 'n Go items are located adjacent to the Emergency Department waiting area. They are available 24 hours a day.
